The Care Specialists go through a rigorous hiring process and extensive national background check. Care Specialists are certified or registered nursing assistants who are primarily responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the Care Plan with the client. They provide the one-on-one care, coaching, and assistance in the activities around the home, in the community and during recreation and pastimes to clients. CHC Services values and has a very strong emphasis on training of the Care Specialist staff. The training includes them as a part of the team with the Care Manager, Medical Director, and licensed clinicians. The Care Specialists also have consistent access to the Executive Team and Care Managers for education or training. The Care Specialist activities are driven by the details of the individual's Care Plan and may include:
- Personal care: bathing, dressing, grooming
- Toileting
- Safety: assistance with medication, supervision with activities, physical and cognitive support, etc.
- Simple housecleaning
- Meal preparation
- Community outings to MD appointments, pharmacy, shopping, etc.
- Recreational activities
- Exercise programs
